What this site is

Pylon Plans republishes public federal records and adds calculations of its own — rankings, distances, densities and coverage estimates. It is provided for general information.

Pylon Plans is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the FCC, NREL, the US Census Bureau, or any wireless carrier or charging network.

Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously and the pipeline that builds this site checks itself in several ways. We still cannot warrant that any particular figure is correct, current or complete. The source registers themselves contain errors, they are updated on their own schedules, and our copy is only as fresh as the pull date shown in the footer.

Where a figure here disagrees with the FCC or the AFDC, the source is authoritative and we are wrong. Every page carries the source record identifier so you can check.

The FCC Antenna Structure Registration database covers structures that require registration — generally those over 200 feet or near airports. Many small cells, rooftop antennas and short towers are not registered and will not appear here.

Do not rely on this for safety-critical decisions

Coverage estimates on this site are geometric calculations from structure height. They are theoretical maxima, not predictions of usable signal, and they are unsuitable for any purpose where being wrong matters — emergency planning, aviation, navigation, or professional radio-frequency engineering.

Charging station records describe configured capacity as reported to the federal register. They are not a live availability feed. Do not plan a journey on the assumption that a particular charger is working.

For excavation, construction or any work near infrastructure, contact the relevant utility and the national call-before-you-dig service. Nothing on this site substitutes for that.

Using the data

The underlying federal data is in the public domain and you are free to obtain and use it directly from the sources listed on our data sources page. We encourage that — the primary sources are better than any republication.

The calculations, written guides, page structure and presentation on this site are our own work. You are welcome to cite them with a link. Bulk copying of the generated pages is not permitted, and would in any case be a worse outcome for you than working from the source data.

Automated access should be reasonable. There is no API; if you need the data in bulk, get it from the federal sources, which are designed for that and will serve you better.

Liability

The site is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, anything published here.

Corrections and contact

If something here is wrong, we want to know. The contact form is the fastest route, and including the record identifier from the page makes it much easier to investigate.

These terms may change; material changes will be reflected in the effective date above.
